I'm pretty good friends on FB with a singer in NOLA. We chat about once a week. Since all of her gigs have dried up, she's now doing twice weekly performances from home, with a "virtual tip jar." I send a few bucks every time I watch. I worry that people like her are going be hit hard. Her husband runs a glass studio on Magazine St. He's shut down as well.

What has been the economic impact on countries that didn't even try to mitigate this? My SWAG is that it's significant.

I said it in the very first post. Subordinating its mission to servicing CCP sensitivities. Probably requires blood. At the very least actions like this could change their internal calculations.

Taking a SWAG, if it only needs to be fine enough such that the human naked eye cannot see the seam, perhaps the resolution of a laser printer or that of a Retina display is good enough, comes out to around 85 μm (300 dots per inch); call it +/- 43 μm.

Hard to judge this without knowing anything about the context. Maybe that guy knows something we don't know.

@Doctor-Phibes said in Theology discussion with a 4 year old.: @Larry said in Theology discussion with a 4 year old.: That was like a man blind from birth describing the color of the sky.... No, I'm just joking around. I could give genuine examples of things that have happened to make people that I know lose their faith, but in all seriousness I tend to get angry about them, so I kind of like to keep things light-hearted. It's common for people to blame God or to lose their faith when things don't go the way they think they should go. "Why did God take my loved one?" "Why did God let ______ happen?" But God didn't do it. God doesn't go around killing people, or causing bad things to happen, or just allowing things to happen. One can either blame God, or take the time to learn why bad things happen. The answer: one of the most beautiful things about the bible is that many books, written over thousands of years by lots of different people, each book dealing with completely different things - all fit together to create one common thread of truth - Why we are here, what happened to separate man from God, and what the plan is to reconcile man with God again. So when I hear people talking about how this or that terrible thing happened so they lost their faith, I don't blame God. I see it for what it is - people of weak faith using it as an excuse.

@mark said in ChiCom: damn that is one ugly rifle. And bayonet. Killed many a GI in the early part of the Vietnam War. They're more accurate than an AK, even with a pinned barrel. With decent ammo, you'll get 2" -2.5" at a hundred . I've popped more than one deer with them. And they do not kick.
